The UFC announced monday that Donald Cerrone will get his desired quick turnaround and face Edson Barboza at UFC on Fox 11 in Orlando on April 19th.
With both fighters being known for their vicious kicks, the lightweight tilt already has fans excited. In his last fight Cerrone delivered with a vicious knockout of Andriano Martins where Cerrone landed a kick to the neck of Martins, sending him crashing to the canvas. Cerrone has had an impressive career thus far, as he has defeated the likes of Jamie Varner, Dennis Siver, Jeremey Stephens, and Evan Dunham amongst others. One of the many big name fighting out of Jackson’s MMA, Cerrone will be looking to propel himself back into title contention with his 3rd straight victory.
Edson Barboza made a name for himself back in January 2012, when he knocked out Terry Etim with a spinning wheel kick. The KO is widely considered one of the greatest in the history of the UFC. Most recently, Barboza defeated Team Alpha Male’s Danny Castillo in Sacramento. The victory was impressive, and was Barboza’s third consecutive win. In the past Barboza has defeated fighters such as Anthony Njokuoni, Ross Pearson and Lucas Martins. Defeating Cerrone would almost definitely launch Barboza into the top 10 in the lightweight division (he is currently number 11, Cerrone is 8.)
The fight will be three rounds, and will take place on the main card.
