Anthony Johnson has signed to fight for the Kansas based promotion Titan Fighting Championships. While the details of the contract are unknown and an opponent is not yet set, Johnson is expected to compete on May 25th at middleweight.
While winning is obviously important, the focus first needs to be on making weight for the former UFC contender. He missed weight three times in the octagon, most recently after making the move up in weight to 185 pounds to face Vitor Belfort. He came in at an astounding 197 pounds, lost via submission and was consequently cut from the UFC.
“Rumble’s” next fight will be the first step to regaining the eyes and trust of the premiere promotion in the world, although it may take more than one fight to be offered a return contract by Zuffa. The fight will air on HDnet and is likely to be the main event of the evening at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, KS.
